Many thanks to EVERYONE who entered.  We really the appreciate the skill, love and hard work you put into your songwriting.  We wish you all nothing but success.  Please know that the standard you set made short-listing and selecting the winner an extremely difficult task – and we’re sorry we kept you hanging on for so long!

But we’re delighted to announce the winner of the inaugural Blackbird Song Contest:

The song is instantly likeable.  But then it really starts to grow on you.  The lyrics are fabulous – quirky, spikey and self-deprecating – you just can’t help but love the wit and invention.  More than anything, among a really strong list of finalists, this is the song we kept singing, whistling, humming and dancing to.  So ‘Big Up’ to Rebecca and the boys of Dirtywings: Winners of the inaugural Blackbird Song Contest!

The winning song will be digitally re-mastered to broadcast quality in close consultation with the winning artist who will retain ALL rights over their work and total artistic control.
The winning song will be distributed worldwide on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster and 5 other leading online stores – and the winner will receive 100% of the royalties from sales.

The winner also gets their own professionally designed and hosted website – and their own domain name – to promote their talent. ALL fees and hosting costs will be paid in full for a whole year.
